Mixed Pyracantha Hedging Pack is a robust, evergreen hedging solution combining three of the most reliable berrying Pyracantha varieties to deliver year-round structure, seasonal interest, and natural security. Designed for both ornamental and practical use, this mix provides dense cover, vibrant colour from autumn through winter, and excellent value for wildlife.

Varieties included – equal split (33.3% each): Pyracantha ‘Orange Glow’ – A vigorous evergreen shrub producing masses of bright orange berries from late autumn through winter. In late spring to early summer, it bears clusters of small white flowers that attract bees and other pollinators. Its glossy, dark green foliage remains dense throughout the year, providing strong visual screening and wind protection. Growth is fast and upright, making it ideal for establishing hedges quickly while responding well to regular trimming. Pyracantha ‘Soleil d’Or’ – Valued for its rich golden-yellow berries, this variety adds contrast and brightness to mixed hedging schemes. Flowering occurs in late spring, followed by heavy berry set that persists well into winter, providing an important food source for birds during colder months. Its evergreen foliage is slightly softer in tone, offering visual variation within the hedge while maintaining strong density and resilience in exposed conditions. Pyracantha ‘Ventoux Red’ – A classic red-berried Pyracantha known for its heavy fruiting and excellent coverage. White flowers appear in late spring, maturing into deep red berries from autumn onwards. The thorny, interlaced branches form an effective natural barrier, ideal for boundary protection, roadside planting, and wildlife-friendly security hedging. Its strong structure and reliable berry production make it one of the most dependable Pyracantha varieties for long-term planting. Seasonal interest & growth habit: This pack offers year-round appeal. Dense evergreen foliage provides constant screening, while spring flowers support pollinators from May to June. From late summer onwards, berries develop and intensify in colour through autumn, remaining on the plants well into winter. Growth rates are moderate to fast, with Pyracantha typically achieving 3–4 metres if left untrimmed, but easily maintained at hedge height with annual or biannual pruning. Practical benefits & uses: Pyracantha is particularly valued for its thorny growth, making it ideal for defensive hedging, property boundaries, roadside planting, and areas requiring additional security. Once established, it is drought tolerant, wind resistant, and adaptable to a wide range of soil types, including poorer or free-draining soils. It performs well in full sun to partial shade, with best berry production achieved in brighter positions. This mixed Pyracantha hedging pack is an excellent choice for customers seeking a low-maintenance, evergreen hedge that delivers colour, security, and wildlife value throughout the year. Suitable for residential gardens, rural boundaries, and commercial landscapes, it combines durability with high ornamental impact and long-term performance.
Planting and care

Choose a position in full sun or partial shade. Keep the soil moist while allowing excess water to drain freely.

Water thoroughly after planting and check soil moisture regularly during establishment, particularly in dry or windy weather. Keep competing weeds clear and avoid piling mulch against stems.

Check the individual plants in the pack before positioning them. Match pruning and any winter protection to each supplied species; use the full plant list and substitution notes on this page.

Delivery and unpacking

On arrival, carefully remove outer packaging and check the plants against your order. Handle plants by their pot or root ball where possible, rather than pulling on stems or branches.

Check root moisture and water if needed. Until planting, keep the plants upright in a sheltered position and prevent roots from drying out. If supplied bare-root, keep the roots covered and moist and plant promptly when conditions allow.

Delivery arrangements and any charges are those confirmed for your order.

Important information

Firethorn berries are not regarded as a serious poisoning hazard, although eating many can cause stomach upset. This pack has sharp thorns that can puncture skin, eyes or mouths. Wear gloves and keep cut branches away from children and animals.

Hardiness is a conservative estimate for the whole mix (H5), based on its least cold-hardy listed plant. Individual plants may be hardier; site, drainage and establishment affect winter survival.
