Mixed Evergreen Pack – A versatile evergreen hedging mix designed to provide year-round screening, structure, and colour. This pack combines fast-growing and traditional evergreen varieties to create a dense, resilient hedge suitable for gardens, boundaries, and privacy planting. Varieties included – equal split (20% each): Griselinia ( Griselinia littoralis ), English Holly ( Ilex aquifolium ), Portuguese Laurel ( Prunus lusitanica ), Red Robin ( Photinia × fraseri ‘Red Robin’ ), Cherry Laurel ( Prunus laurocerasus ).

This combination is ideal for customers looking for a natural but refined evergreen boundary. The mix balances faster-establishing species with longer-term structural plants, helping the hedge bulk up quickly while continuing to improve in density and character over time. Suitable for residential gardens, property boundaries, and privacy planting, it offers flexibility across a wide range of soil types and settings. Varieties included – equal split (20% each): Griselinia (Griselinia littoralis) provides quick, upright growth with fresh green foliage. It is particularly valued for its tolerance of wind and coastal conditions, helping the hedge establish coverage early while softer species develop. English Holly (Ilex aquifolium) adds long-term structure and traditional character. Its dense, spined foliage creates an effective natural barrier, contributing strength and permanence to the hedge once mature. Portuguese Laurel (Prunus lusitanica) brings a more refined, compact evergreen element. With glossy leaves and controlled growth, it responds well to clipping and helps create a neat, formal hedge line within the mix. Red Robin (Photinia × fraseri ‘Red Robin’) introduces seasonal colour through its vibrant red new growth. This adds visual interest and contrast, softening the overall appearance while maintaining evergreen coverage. Cherry Laurel (Prunus laurocerasus) forms the backbone of screening within the pack. Planting & Use When planted as a mixed hedge using appropriate spacing, this pack develops into a thick, layered screen with varied foliage texture and colour. It is well suited to regular trimming once established and can be maintained as either a more informal mixed hedge or shaped into a tighter, structured boundary. This pack is ideal for customers seeking a robust evergreen hedge that offers year-round coverage, visual interest, and long-term reliability without relying on a single species.
Planting and care

Choose a position in full sun. Keep the soil moist while allowing excess water to drain freely.

Water thoroughly after planting and check soil moisture regularly during establishment, particularly in dry or windy weather. Keep competing weeds clear and avoid piling mulch against stems.

Delivery and unpacking

On arrival, carefully remove outer packaging and check the plants against your order. Handle plants by their pot or root ball where possible, rather than pulling on stems or branches.

Check root moisture and water if needed. Until planting, keep the plants upright in a sheltered position and prevent roots from drying out. If supplied bare-root, keep the roots covered and moist and plant promptly when conditions allow.

Important information

This evergreen mix contains cherry laurel, Portuguese laurel and photinia, whose foliage or seeds can be poisonous if eaten. Keep the hedge and all clippings away from grazing animals, especially horses. Holly berries and leaves also should not be eaten.

Hardiness is a conservative estimate for the whole mix (H5), based on its least cold-hardy listed plant. Individual plants may be hardier; site, drainage and establishment affect winter survival.
