Ferrovia Sweet Cherry Half Standard Trees - Prunus Avium 'Ferrovia'

Ferrovia for a fruit-tree scheme

Ferrovia is grown for sweet cherries with deep red skin and a recognisable heart-shaped outline. The half-standard form adds a clear lower trunk and raised branching crown, bringing a defined tree shape to an orchard-style garden or productive border.

Position and pollination

Allow room for the crown to develop and for access when tending or picking fruit. A sunny, sheltered site with well-drained soil suits sweet cherries. Pollination depends on the varieties planted together, so confirm a compatible partner when planning your orchard. The half-standard shape describes how the tree is trained; it does not guarantee a particular mature height.

Select your supplied size

Plants are pot grown, with a clear stem height listed at 80–100cm. Choose your required stem girth from the available options. If matching existing trees, use the supplied measurements and ask us about the rootstock so you can plan for future growth as well as the initial appearance.

Choose a position in full sun or partial shade. Keep the soil moist while allowing excess water to drain freely.

Water thoroughly after planting and check soil moisture regularly during establishment, particularly in dry or windy weather. Keep competing weeds clear and avoid piling mulch against stems.

Supplied according to the option you select for this product.

On arrival, carefully remove outer packaging and check the plants against your order. Handle plants by their pot or root ball where possible, rather than pulling on stems or branches.

Check root moisture and water if needed. Until planting, keep the plants upright in a sheltered position and prevent roots from drying out. If supplied bare-root, keep the roots covered and moist and plant promptly when conditions allow.

Larger plants and root balls can be heavy. Arrange suitable help and equipment for safe unloading and positioning.

Delivery arrangements and any charges are those confirmed for your order.
