Full Description

A rounded feature for borders

This Green Beech topiary combines the familiar foliage of Fagus sylvatica with a dome-shaped outline. Use an individual dome to punctuate a bed, or repeat the shape through a border for a coordinated planting scheme. The low, rounded silhouette pairs naturally with contrasting upright plants.

Seasonal character

Beech carries green leaves through the growing season, followed by warm yellow and orange-brown autumn tones. It is deciduous, so its appearance changes over the year. Clipping maintains the intended outline as new growth develops.

Choosing and establishing your plant

Choose your required size from the available options; this product is supplied with a rootball. A position in sun or light shade with free-draining soil suits beech. Avoid ground that remains waterlogged or becomes excessively dry, and plan for access around the dome so its outline can be maintained. Read the supplied-size details and existing plant warning before ordering.

Planting and care

Choose a position in full sun or partial shade. Keep the soil moist while allowing excess water to drain freely.

Water thoroughly after planting and check soil moisture regularly during establishment, particularly in dry or windy weather. Keep competing weeds clear and avoid piling mulch against stems.

Check support ties as the plant grows. Maintain the supplied shape with pruning appropriate to the species, taking care not to remove more old wood than that species can regenerate.

What you’ll receive

Supplied according to the option you select for this product.

Size: as selected when ordering.
Root Type: Rootball.

Delivery and unpacking

On arrival, carefully remove outer packaging and check the plants against your order. Handle plants by their pot or root ball where possible, rather than pulling on stems or branches.

Check root moisture and water if needed. Until planting, keep the plants upright in a sheltered position and prevent roots from drying out. If supplied bare-root, keep the roots covered and moist and plant promptly when conditions allow.

Larger plants and root balls can be heavy. Arrange suitable help and equipment for safe unloading and positioning.

Delivery arrangements and any charges are those confirmed for your order.

Important information

Keep fallen beechnuts away from children and dogs, as they can cause stomach illness. Do not allow horses to eat beechmast: serious, sometimes fatal, equine poisoning is documented.
