Mixed Bamboo Hedging – A striking evergreen bamboo mix combining contrasting stem colours and fast, upright growth to create a dense, contemporary screen ideal for privacy, shelter, and year-round structure. Equal split (33.3% each): Black Bamboo ( Phyllostachys nigra ), Golden Bamboo ( Phyllostachys aurea ), Green Bamboo ( Phyllostachys bissetii ).

Mixed Bamboo Hedging is a contemporary evergreen screening mix designed to deliver fast, dense coverage with visual interest throughout the year. By combining contrasting bamboo varieties, this pack creates a bold yet balanced hedge suitable for modern gardens, boundaries, and privacy screening.

The mix offers strong vertical growth and excellent year-round foliage, making it ideal for customers looking to create separation, reduce overlooking, or add structure without relying on traditional hedging plants. All varieties included are clump-forming when properly managed and respond well to containment systems and regular maintenance. This pack blends different cane colours and growth habits to avoid a flat, uniform appearance. The result is a living screen that feels dynamic and architectural while remaining practical for long-term use in residential and commercial settings. Varieties included – equal split (33.3% each): Black Bamboo (Phyllostachys nigra) Valued for its distinctive dark canes that mature from green to deep purple-black. It adds contrast and visual drama to the hedge while maintaining strong, upright growth. Golden Bamboo (Phyllostachys aurea) Brings warm yellow-green canes and a slightly more open habit, helping to soften the overall look of the screen. Its bright colouring adds interest, particularly in winter and low light. Green Bamboo (Phyllostachys bissetii) A reliable, cold-hardy bamboo known for its dense foliage and vigorous screening ability. It provides the backbone of the hedge, ensuring consistent coverage and wind protection. Planting & Management All bamboo varieties in this pack are fast growing and should be planted with appropriate root containment, such as a bamboo barrier, to control spread. Regular maintenance and occasional thinning will help maintain a tidy, upright hedge and encourage healthy new growth. Planting and care

Choose a position in full sun or partial shade. Keep the soil moist while allowing excess water to drain freely.

Water thoroughly after planting and check soil moisture regularly during establishment, particularly in dry or windy weather. Keep competing weeds clear and avoid piling mulch against stems.

Delivery and unpacking

On arrival, carefully remove outer packaging and check the plants against your order. Handle plants by their pot or root ball where possible, rather than pulling on stems or branches.

Check root moisture and water if needed. Until planting, keep the plants upright in a sheltered position and prevent roots from drying out. If supplied bare-root, keep the roots covered and moist and plant promptly when conditions allow.

Important information

This pack contains true Phyllostachys bamboo, which is not generally a poisoning concern in normal garden use. Do not feed raw shoots or clippings to children or animals; edible bamboo shoots require correct identification and preparation. Cut canes and leaf edges can be sharp.

Hardiness is a conservative estimate for the whole mix (H4), based on its least cold-hardy listed plant. Individual plants may be hardier; site, drainage and establishment affect winter survival.
