Full Description
Mixed Variegated Hedging Pack – A decorative evergreen and semi-evergreen mix designed to bring year-round colour, texture, and structure to garden boundaries while still delivering effective screening. Equal split (20% each): Variegated Griselinia ( Griselinia littoralis ‘Variegata’ ), Elaeagnus ‘Limelight’ ( Elaeagnus × ebbingei ‘Limelight’ ), Golden Privet ( Ligustrum ovalifolium ‘Aureum’ ), Variegated Spindle ( Euonymus fortunei ‘Emerald Gaiety’ ), Bravos Spindle ( Euonymus fortunei ‘Bravos’ ).

Mixed Variegated Hedging Pack is a decorative evergreen and semi-evergreen hedging mix designed to bring year-round colour, contrast, and visual interest to garden boundaries, driveways, and landscaped settings. This pack focuses on foliage variation rather than flowers, creating a bright, contemporary hedge that remains effective as a screening solution throughout the seasons.

The combination of variegated and golden-leaved plants produces a hedge that feels lighter and more dynamic than traditional green-only hedging. Differing leaf sizes, colours, and textures work together to soften boundaries while still forming a dense, manageable hedge suitable for regular trimming and long-term maintenance. Varieties included – equal split (20% each): Variegated Griselinia (Griselinia littoralis ‘Variegata’) provides strong evergreen structure and coastal resilience. Its thick, glossy leaves edged with cream add brightness and help form a dense backbone to the hedge, making it particularly well suited to exposed or maritime locations.   Elaeagnus ‘Limelight’ (Elaeagnus × ebbingei ‘Limelight’) contributes bold, golden-yellow foliage with green margins, offering high-impact colour throughout the year. It is fast growing, extremely tolerant of wind and poor soils, and helps the hedge establish quickly while maintaining coverage in winter.   Golden Privet (Ligustrum ovalifolium ‘Aureum’) brings softer texture and classic hedging form to the mix. Its yellow-green leaves brighten shaded areas and respond very well to clipping, helping maintain a neat, uniform hedge line.   Variegated Spindle (Euonymus fortunei ‘Emerald Gaiety’) adds fine-textured foliage and year-round interest. Its compact habit fills gaps lower down in the hedge, improving density at the base while introducing subtle white and green contrast.   Bravos Spindle (Euonymus fortunei ‘Bravos’) complements the mix with broader, bolder variegated leaves. Its robust growth and excellent tolerance of pruning help reinforce structure while adding depth and variation within the hedge.   Together, these varieties form a balanced, colourful hedge that remains attractive in all seasons without relying on flowers or berries. The mix is ideal for residential gardens, modern landscapes, and properties where a decorative yet practical boundary is required. Planting & suitability This pack is best suited to well-drained soils in full sun to partial shade and can be maintained as a formal clipped hedge or a slightly more relaxed screen depending on pruning style. Due to the ornamental nature of the varieties included, this pack is intended for garden and landscape use rather than countryside stewardship schemes. This hedging pack is ideal for homeowners, designers, and landscapers seeking a bright, contemporary alternative to traditional green hedging while still achieving reliable screening and long-term structure.
Planting and care

Choose a position in full sun. Keep the soil moist while allowing excess water to drain freely.

Water thoroughly after planting and check soil moisture regularly during establishment, particularly in dry or windy weather. Keep competing weeds clear and avoid piling mulch against stems.

Check the individual plants in the pack before positioning them. Match pruning and any winter protection to each supplied species; use the full plant list and substitution notes on this page.

Delivery and unpacking

On arrival, carefully remove outer packaging and check the plants against your order. Handle plants by their pot or root ball where possible, rather than pulling on stems or branches.

Check root moisture and water if needed. Until planting, keep the plants upright in a sheltered position and prevent roots from drying out. If supplied bare-root, keep the roots covered and moist and plant promptly when conditions allow.

Delivery arrangements and any charges are those confirmed for your order.

Important information

This variegated mix contains privet, whose leaves and berries can cause poisoning, with particular concern for horses eating clippings. The euonymus plants also should not be eaten. Keep children and pets from tasting the plants and keep all pruning waste out of grazing areas.

Hardiness is a conservative estimate for the whole mix (H4), based on its least cold-hardy listed plant. Individual plants may be hardier; site, drainage and establishment affect winter survival.
