Full Description

Portuguese Laurel hedging plants offer an excellent solution for creating an attractive, low-maintenance hedge that provides year-round privacy and visual appeal. Whether you start small or opt for a more established hedge, these plants will enhance your garden with their vibrant foliage and seasonal interest.

Choosing this plant for your space

Start by measuring the length of the proposed hedge and the space available on either side. Consider how the hedge will sit alongside boundaries and other plants, then choose a starting size for the layout.

Position and soil

This plant is listed for sunny or shaded positions. Well-drained soil is suitable, including soil that retains moisture while allowing excess water to drain away.

Choosing your size

The option you select determines the height and root type supplied. Use the listed measurements to plan the quantity and spacing for your scheme before ordering.

Planting and care

Choose a position in sun or shade. Keep the soil moist while allowing excess water to drain freely.

Water thoroughly after planting and check soil moisture regularly during establishment, particularly in dry or windy weather. Keep competing weeds clear and avoid piling mulch against stems.

Check support ties as the plant grows. Maintain the supplied shape with pruning appropriate to the species, taking care not to remove more old wood than that species can regenerate.

What you’ll receive

Supplied according to the option you select for this product.

Height: as selected when ordering.
Root Type: as selected when ordering.

Delivery and unpacking

On arrival, carefully remove outer packaging and check the plants against your order. Handle plants by their pot or root ball where possible, rather than pulling on stems or branches.

Check root moisture and water if needed. Until planting, keep the plants upright in a sheltered position and prevent roots from drying out. If supplied bare-root, keep the roots covered and moist and plant promptly when conditions allow.

Delivery arrangements and any charges are those confirmed for your order.

Important information

Do not eat the leaves, stems or seeds of this ornamental laurel. Keep it and all hedge clippings away from horses and other grazing animals, as chewed or wilted material can release cyanide. Seek prompt veterinary advice if an animal eats it.
