Crack Willow Hedging Plants - Salix Fragilis

Salix fragilis, or Crack Willow , is a fast-growing, deciduous tree that provides rapid height and dense coverage. Ideal for creating natural screens, hedges, or windbreaks in wet or moist conditions, it offers seasonal interest and wildlife benefits. This hardy tree is perfect for large gardens, parkland, or water-adjacent areas where its ability to thrive in damp soils is an advantage.

Choosing this plant for your space

Start by measuring the length of the proposed hedge and the space available on either side. Consider how the hedge will sit alongside boundaries and other plants, then choose a starting size for the layout.

Position and soil

Choose a sunny position. The soil should retain moisture while allowing excess water to drain away.

Choosing your size

The option you select determines the height supplied. Use the listed measurements to plan the quantity and spacing for your scheme before ordering.

Choose a position in full sun or partial shade. Moisture-retentive soil is suitable; do not assume this also means the plant can tolerate prolonged flooding.

Water thoroughly after planting and check soil moisture regularly during establishment, particularly in dry or windy weather. Keep competing weeds clear and avoid piling mulch against stems.

Check support ties as the plant grows. Maintain the supplied shape with pruning appropriate to the species, taking care not to remove more old wood than that species can regenerate.

Supplied according to the option you select for this product.

Root Type: Bare Root.
Height: as selected when ordering.

On arrival, carefully remove outer packaging and check the plants against your order. Handle plants by their pot or root ball where possible, rather than pulling on stems or branches.

Check root moisture and water if needed. Until planting, keep the plants upright in a sheltered position and prevent roots from drying out. If supplied bare-root, keep the roots covered and moist and plant promptly when conditions allow.

Delivery arrangements and any charges are those confirmed for your order.
