Choosing this plant for your space

This umbrella-trained form is chosen for the shape of its canopy. Consider where the canopy will sit over the space below, together with the clear stem height and access around the tree.

Position and soil

Choose a position in full sun or partial shade. Well-drained soil is suitable, including soil that retains moisture while allowing excess water to drain away.

Choosing your size

Check the measurements and any options shown for this product before adding it to your basket. Use those details to plan the planting space and quantity required for your scheme.

Choose sun or partial shade and freely draining soil. Established plants tolerate dry conditions and coastal winds, but shallow chalk can cause foliage yellowing. This cultivar can be grown in containers and clipped to maintain a standard form.

On arrival, carefully remove outer packaging and check the plants against your order. Handle plants by their pot or root ball where possible, rather than pulling on stems or branches.

Check root moisture and water if needed. Until planting, keep the plants upright in a sheltered position and prevent roots from drying out. If supplied bare-root, keep the roots covered and moist and plant promptly when conditions allow.

Larger plants and root balls can be heavy. Arrange suitable help and equipment for safe unloading and positioning.
