Our White Dogwood, also known as Cornus kousa, is renowned in the garden world for its unique beauty and colour. The Dogwood leaves add great texture to any garden as they are mid-green with pointed, wavy edges that grow alongside stunning petal-like bracts that hold yellow/green flowers in Springtime.  White Dogwood, like its Common Dogwood variety, is a great option for those looking to increase wildlife activity in their gardens as the shrub will flourish in all seasons as the flowers transition to red foliage in Autumn and then change into darker berries, a favourite of songbirds, in the Winter months.

White Dogwood

White Dogwood is placed into the “medium growing hedge” category as typically it can grow between 40-60cm per year depending on factors like watering and nutrient intake. White Dogwood (if preferred) can grow tall, up to 10m at a mature height and grows in a naturally rounded shape and so does not need pruning, if you wish to prune for aesthetic purposes then you should do so in its dormant Winter months. We offer our White Dogwood in a variety of sizes from 15cm-200cm, meaning you can choose to affordably grow the hedging or receive it fully-grown and instantly have the benefits of its colours and wildlife-attraction.

White Dogwood is a hardy shrub and so grows well in both sunned and shaded areas and in most soil types, including clay and sandy, providing the hedging is well-watered due to its shallow roots and so should also be kept well irrigated. The tree can also grow well mixed with other hedging as they are often found growing under other trees in the wild and so can be a great option for those seeking a variety of heights and colour in their gardens.

The recommended planting density varies depending on the height of the plants you buy. For Example:

Small – 15-90cm: It is recommended that you plant 3-5 plants per meter

Medium – 90-150cm: It is recommended that you plant 2-3 plants per meter

Large – 150-300cm: It is recommended that you plant 1-2 plants per meter
