Description
Red Robin
Photinia Red robin gets its name from the new foliage that grows in spring, as it comes through with a beautiful, vibrant red colour that makes this hedging a unique and brighter alternative for most of our other available hedging. This colouring means the Photinia is always a popular choice for our customers looking to add more colour to their gardens.
It will also grow cream-coloured flowers during spring and often red berries as well, making the hedging second to none in terms of its colours. Photinia isn’t a dense hedging, so it will allow breeze to pass through your garden in the summer, however this means that the hedging isn’t suitable if you are looking for security or wind protection.
The Photinia Red robin (if preferred) will eventually grow tall, in one year it will grow 20cm to 40cm, depending on factors like watering and nutrients, placing it into the “medium growing hedge” category. We offer the Photinia Red robin from 15cm to 150cm, meaning you have the choice to affordably grow the hedging or receive the hedge fully-grown to instantly appreciate the vivid colours.
The evergreen hedging is suitable for normal, clay or chalk soils, meaning it’s likely it will grow well wherever your garden is. Photinia Red robin will also thrive in fully sunned to semi shaded areas, also in inland or exposed sites as well. Despite the hedging’s durability, we do urge customers to note that younger plants need to have a cover or ground mulch in winter to protect them until they grow a couple years older.
The recommended planting density varies depending on the height of the plants you buy. For Example:
Small – 15-90cm: It is recommended that you plant 3-5 plants per meter
Medium – 90-150cm: It is recommended that you plant 2-3 plants per meter
Large – 150-300cm: It is recommended that you plant 1-2 plants per meter
