The Novita Laurel, also referred to as the Prunus Laurocerasus ‘Novita’, is always a popular choice with those looking for a hardy shrub that will grow tall for instant privacy and protection. The glossy, deep green leaves remain intact year-round due to the plant’s evergreen nature and so customers are able to reap the rewards of the hedging in all seasons. The shrub will grow well in most soil types, except for shallow chalky soils, and can thrive in both sunned and shaded areas-therefore making it a fully hardy plant with a good survival rate.

Our Novita Laurels (if preferred) will grow tall- easily over 5m in height, making them ideal for instant privacy and protection. They are easily maintained if just trimmed once or twice a year and can typically grow anywhere from 30-60cm depending on factors like watering and nutrient intake, placing them into the “fast growing hedge” category. We offer you the choice of Novita Laurels in a range of sizes, meaning you can choose to affordably grow the hedging or receive it fully-grown and instantly have the benefits of its colour and privacy.

The Novita Laurel is often praised for its versatility by our customers due to its fast growth rate yet easy maintenance for pruning as mature Laurels will easily tolerate hard pruning in the Spring if you wish to grow them shorter. The plants will grow very densely and so offer good sound and wind protection for all gardens, as well as a secure home for wildlife and so is also popular with our eco-conscious clients too.

The recommended planting density varies depending on the height of the plants you buy. For Example:

Small – 15-90cm: It is recommended that you plant 3-5 plants per meter

Medium – 90-150cm: It is recommended that you plant 2-3 plants per meter

Large – 150-300cm: It is recommended that you plant 1-2 plants per meter
