Our Mixed Evergreen Hedging is very popular among most of our customers, and for good reason. The mix includes our selected favourites among our evergreen range, this includes Cherry Laurel, Griselinia, Red Robin, Holly, and the sort after Portuguese Laurel.
We picked these varieties because not only are they green through the whole year but offer something special some evergreens do not. For example, the Cherry Laurel has a broad green glossy leave that sparkles in the sun, the Red Robin has vibrant red foliage for most of the year. The Griselinia has a unique thick waxy leaf and the Portuguese Laurel and Holly add lots of colour and seasonal interest to the mix.
The evergreen mix is described as moderately fast growing as it contains some faster varieties and some slightly slower growing varieties, it is easy to maintain as a singular hedge row if trimmed just once a year. The average growth speed of the plants included is between 30-60cm annually.
When established into a full hedge, you will receive a multitude of benefits from the varieties, including a vibrant display of foliage, berries, flowers and of course a variety of scents through the garden.
The recommended planting density varies depending on the height of the plants you buy. For Example:
Small – 15-90cm: It is recommended that you plant 3-5 plants per meter Medium – 90-150cm: It is recommended that you plant 2-3 plants per meter Large – 150-300cm: It is recommended that you plant 1-2 plants per meter
