Description
Mano Laurel
The Mano Laurel, also named the Prunus Laurocerasus ‘Mano’, is an evergreen Laurel that is often complimented for its dark, emerald-coloured leaves that mix with crisp-white, fragrant flowers as Spring arrives. The evergreen Laurel is compact and grows similarly to our Cherry Brandy Laurels as it is a spreading shrub that is ideal for low borders, ground coverage and woodland areas. The plant is also very low maintenance and so perfect for those who require less work for their hedging.
The Mano Laurel will grow up to 1.5m in height and up to a spread of 2m over 10-20 years depending on factors like watering and nutrient intake, placing it into the “slow growing hedge” category. The Mano Laurels will grow very bushy and wide, making them perfect for ground cover and preventing any weed growth. Our Mano Laurels are available in a range of sizes, meaning you have the choice to grow the hedging affordably or receive it fully-grown to instantly reap the benefits of the hedge’s dark colours and width.
These Laurels are hardy plants, requiring low maintenance providing they are sufficiently watered. The Mano Laurel can be planted in both exposed and sheltered areas as well as in most types of soil including chalky, clay and sandy, as long as it is well-drained. The hedging will also flourish in both fully sunned and partly shaded areas. Please note, if you are looking for a hedge for instant privacy, please see our Laurel alternatives like the Cherry Laurel, Caucasica Laurel, Genolia and Elly Laurels as they are all tall-growing hedges.
The recommended planting density varies depending on the height of the plants you buy. For Example:
Small – 15-90cm: It is recommended that you plant 3-5 plants per meter
Medium – 90-150cm: It is recommended that you plant 2-3 plants per meter
Large – 150-300cm: It is recommended that you plant 1-2 plants per meter
