Leylandii

Leylandii is a very popular hedging and is often chosen for its ability to provide great height and privacy quickly, due to its fast growth. The dark green foliage combined with the light, new foliage helps to make this a beautiful hedge and this foliage is also complimented by our customers for its year-round citrus scent.

The hedging’s foliage is very dense, making Leylandii an excellent choice if you are looking for some noise reduction in your garden, from traffic for example. The density of the leaves helps make this hedging ideal for both privacy and wind protection also. Leylandii is almost guaranteed to grow wherever you live, due to it being suitable for both normal and clay soils, it can thrive in both fully sunned areas and fully shaded areas in coastal, inland, or exposed sites, so it is a great option for all customers.

The Leylandii (if preferred) will grow very high, whilst being trimmed 1-2 times a year to ensure it will grow back successfully, because it is important to note that the hedging will not grow if it is on old wood. If you are looking for a hedge that can be cut back into old wood, we recommend the Western Red Cedar or to have a look through our many evergreen hedges that make great alternatives. In one year, the Leylandii will grow from 70cm – 90cm, depending on factors like watering and nutrients, placing it into the “rapid growing hedge” category.

Our Leylandii is available in from 15cm tall to 200 cm tall, meaning you have the choice to grow the hedging affordably or receive it fully-grown to instantly reap the benefits of the hedge’s privacy and pleasant scent.

The recommended planting density varies depending on the height of the plants you buy. For Example:

Small – 15-90cm: It is recommended that you plant 3-5 plants per meter

Medium – 90-150cm: It is recommended that you plant 2-3 plants per meter

Large – 150-300cm: It is recommended that you plant 1-2 plants per meter
