Hornbeam Hedging, also known as Carpinus Betulus, is always in high demand due to its classic hedging qualities, ability to grow in many soil types and withstand all kinds of weather. It has bright green leaves and the new foliage has a yellow tint to it, creating a stunning colour for your garden.
In winter, the Hornbeam will hold its leaves quite well with an autumnal brown colour. Our customers are always impressed with the hedging’s ability to survive the British winter, as it’s able to grow during high winds and in damp grounds. In spring, green catkins will begin to grow and be replaced with fruits in autumn.
The Hornbeam (if preferred) will grow tall, over 8m in height, yet it’s easily maintained being trimmed once or twice a year. In one year, the Hornbeam will grow from 20cm – 40cm, depending on factors like watering and nutrients, placing it into the “Medium growing hedge” category.
We offer the Hornbeam from 15cm to 210 cm tall, meaning you can choose to affordably grow the hedging or receive it fully grown and have instant privacy and protection. Due to the hedging’s height and density, it can help be a barrier for noise and wind, to protect your garden.
The recommended planting density varies depending on the height of the plants you buy. For Example:
Small – 15-90cm: It is recommended that you plant 3-5 plants per meter
Medium – 90-150cm: It is recommended that you plant 2-3 plants per meter
Large – 150-300cm: It is recommended that you plant 1-2 plants per meter
