Description
Golden Leylandii
The Golden Leylandii, often called the Cupressocyparis ‘Castlewellan Gold’, has a foliage like no other, as the edges of the conifer are sprinkled with yellows and golds that add a stunning tint to the green branches. Our Golden Leylandii are a very popular hedging option because, like the Green Leylandii, they provide great height and privacy due to their fast growth rate, density and the foliage has a citrus scent to compliment your garden year-round.
The Golden Leylandii (if preferred) will grow high, whilst being trimmed 1-2 times a year to ensure it will grow back successfully. It is important to note that the hedging will not grow if it is on old wood and so pruning is essential. In one year, the Golden Leylandii will grow from 40-60cm, depending on factors like watering and nutrient intake, placing it into the “fast growing hedge” category. The Leylandii can reach a mature height of over 5m with the correct care. Our Golden Leylandii is available in a range of sizes, meaning you have the choice to grow the hedging affordably or receive it fully-grown to instantly reap the benefits of the hedge’s privacy and pleasant scent.
The hedging’s foliage is very dense, making Golden Leylandii an excellent choice if you are looking for some noise reduction in your garden, from traffic for example. The density of the leaves helps make this hedging ideal for both privacy and wind protection also. Golden Leylandii is almost guaranteed to grow wherever you live, due to it being suitable for both normal and clay soils, providing the area is not too water-logged. The hedging can thrive in both fully sunned areas and fully shaded areas in coastal, inland, or exposed sites, so it is a great option for all customers to brighten their gardens, regardless of where they live.
The recommended planting density varies depending on the height of the plants you buy. For Example:
Small – 15-90cm: It is recommended that you plant 3-5 plants per meter
Medium – 90-150cm: It is recommended that you plant 2-3 plants per meter
Large – 150-300cm: It is recommended that you plant 1-2 plants per meter
