An Introduction to Evereste Crab Apple Trees

The ‘Evereste’ Crab Apple Tree, or Malus ‘Evereste’, is native to temperate regions. This ornamental tree is celebrated for its vibrant flowers, decorative fruits, and year-round visual appeal, making it a popular choice for gardens and public spaces.

Evereste Crab Apple Trees burst into a spectacular display of white-pink flowers in spring, typically around April to May. The blossoms, which last for several weeks, eventually give way to small, orange-red crab apples adored by wildlife. Native to Europe, this moderately fast-growing tree features glossy, dark green leaves and a smooth, grey bark. Its non-invasive root system and manageable height (up to 7 meters) make it a suitable choice for smaller gardens. The foliage turns a striking yellow in autumn, but the tree does not produce thorns.

Benefits for Nature

Evereste Crab Apple Trees are a haven for wildlife, offering abundant nectar and pollen to bees and other pollinators during their flowering season. The crab apples, although bitter to humans, are a crucial food source for birds and small mammals in autumn and winter. This tree has low toxicity levels, making it a safe and beneficial addition to natural ecosystems.
