Description
Cherry Brandy Laurel
The Cherry Brandy Laurel, also known as Prunus Laurocerasus ‘Cherry Brandy’, is always in high demand as a low growing hedge with a variety of uses, making it perfect for borders, hedging and urban gardens. The rich green colouring of the narrow leaves makes the Laurel sure to compliment any garden it is planted in, especially as fragrant, cream flowers and purple (inedible) berries blossom in the Springtime.
The Cherry Brandy is a smaller, rounded evergreen shrub that will grow both in height and width, meaning it is part of the “spreading” variety of Laurels. The Laurels can reach an eventual height of 1 metre and a width of 2 metres, making them ideal for ground cover and preventing any growth of weeds. The Cherry Brandy Laurel is placed into the “medium growing hedge” category as the plant is easily maintained just under 1 meter in height because it will not grow as quickly as other Laurels, like the Cherry Laurel.
These Laurels are hardy plants, requiring low maintenance providing they are sufficiently watered. The Cherry Brandy Laurel will thrive in normal, well-drained soils and can be planted in either fully sunned or partly shaded areas. The evergreen nature of the Laurel means it will keep its stunning colour year-round and offer great ground protection or remain a full hedge perfect for low borders. Please note, if you are looking for a hedge for instant privacy, please see our Laurel alternatives like the Cherry Laurel, Caucasica Laurel, Genolia and Elly Laurels as they are all tall-growing hedges.
The recommended planting density varies depending on the height of the plants you buy. For Example:
Small – 15-90cm: It is recommended that you plant 3-5 plants per meter
Medium – 90-150cm: It is recommended that you plant 2-3 plants per meter
Large – 150-300cm: It is recommended that you plant 1-2 plants per meter
