Root ball and pot-grown plants have more developed roots and bushier growth, requiring fewer plants per meter:

This growth rate makes it ideal for low, neatly maintained hedges, as it requires minimal trimming to keep its shape and height. Over time, it can reach up to 1-1.5 meters, but with regular pruning, you can easily maintain it at a desired height.
Buxus sempervirens thrives in well-drained, moderately fertile soils, including loamy, chalky, or sandy types. It prefers soil that is slightly alkaline to neutral. While it doesn’t require excessive watering, regular moisture during dry periods and the first year of establishment helps promote healthy root growth. Avoid waterlogged soil, as good drainage is essential to prevent root rot.
